Videos from Earth Networks Lightning Safety Awareness Week 2018 @EarthNetworks #ARWX

A couple of weeks ago, Earth Networks produced a series of videos on Facebook Live for Lightning Safety Awareness Week 2018. These were a great series of videos from the team at Earth Networks (a company I do support and training consulting for) on the importance of remaining safe during lightning events. With lightning strikes recently killing an individual in Florida and Arkansas, as well as sparking a house fire in Arkansas, the importance of lightning safety awareness cannot be stressed enough. For those who have not had a chance to view the Earth Networks Lightning Safety Awareness Week 2018 Facebook Live videos, I’ve included a link to them here.

More information on the Earth Networks Total Lightning Network, the first of its kind to detect both in-cloud and cloud-to-ground lightning on a global scale, is available here. More information on the sensors that comprise the Earth Networks Total Lightning Network is available here. The Earth Networks Total Lightning Network also powers Earth Networks Dangerous Thunderstorm Alerts and PulseRad Doppler radar alternative, and is available in Earth Networks services such as Sferic Maps, Sferic Mobile, Sferic Protect, and Outdoor Alerting System. Speaking of rain, here are the rain totals for the second half of this month from my CoCoRaHS rain gauge in Hot Springs.

There is a Heat Advisory and Excessive Heat Warning for parts of the state this evening. Quick poll for readers of my weather reports. One of my weather tools (Baron Threat Net) allows me to use either light or dark backgrounds for the base maps. For now, I’ve been using the light background for my base maps. I’m including a sample of light and dark backgrounds for base maps. Which one do you like better, and which one would you rather me use in my weather reports? Post your response below in comments!

Weekly Wrap Up Double Feature: June 16, 2018 #ARWX

Welcome to another Weekly Wrap Up! This Weekly Wrap Up is a “Double Feature” discussing the past two week’s worth of weather due to the Weekly Wrap Up Summer Break last Saturday. Last week saw some severe weather move through the state on Friday and Saturday (in fact my Internet was slightly impacted due to the severe weather event). Parts of Garland County experienced power outages, but thankfully, we didn’t experience any power outages.

This week brought mostly warm weather and little rain to the Natural State. Here’s a look at rainfall from my CoCoRaHS rain gauge in Hot Springs for the month of June so far.

Here’s a look at current conditions from Earth Networks weather stations across Arkansas, as well as a look at temperatures from across the state from both NWS and Earth Networks weather stations. Parts of Northeast Arkansas are under a Heat Advisory, and a few showers were picked up on radar earlier this evening. Here’s also a look at pollen counts across the state for allergy sufferers. Beautiful view from my Earth Networks HD Camera in Hot Springs this evening, and some clouds moved in and out as evening sat in! (Images courtesy of Baron Threat Net and Earth Networks Sferic Maps).

Here’s a look at seven-day extended forecast for Hot Springs. Rain chances are back this week! Highs mostly in the lower 90’s.

Here’s some interesting weather news over the past couple of weeks:
